Everton welcome Manchester United on Monday night for their 14th Premier League home game since moving into Hill Dickinson Stadium, but this time there’ll be a twist
Everton have drawn up plans to boost the atmosphere at Hill Dickinson Stadium when they welcome in-form Manchester United on Monday. David Moyes‘ men host a United side who are unbeaten in five games since Michael Carrick took charge.
The Red Devils’ resurgence has seen them move up to fourth in the Premier League table, eight points and six places above Everton, who have European ambitions of their own. The Toffees, however, are in need of some home comforts.
After 13 league games at their new ÂŁ750million stadium, Everton’s record stands at a concerning four wins, four draws and five losses. That’s why their supporters are planning something different in an attempt to help Moyes and Co. win their first home match since early December.
More than 400 banners will unfurled before kick-off, decking out of the ground’s south stand. Toffees fans are aiming to outdo the displays which were seen ahead of their clashes with Arsenal and Leeds United – both matches which they didn’t win.

Supporter group the 1878s have gathered an army of volunteers to lay the flags out over the weekend. Fans in the south stand will be asked to wave any flags they find on their seats once the club begin songs over the PA system around 15 minutes before kick-off.
Katie Carter, one of the leading figures in the 1878s, hopes that the display will help generate a special atmosphere for Monday’s fixture, having beaten United 1-0 in the reverse fixture. Carter told the Liverpool ECHO: “It’s one of the steepest stands in Europe, it can be intimidating if we make it that way, so let’s decorate it with flags and let’s fill it with noise and get it going.
“Monday night is the perfect opportunity for that. Whether you know the person next to you or you don’t, sing along with them, like get right behind them – make sure that everyone is stood-up, all singing and getting that atmosphere going in that ground.
“We’ve got it all there, ready, waiting for us. The stand itself is set up ready. We just need to make it feel like a cauldron of noise to help the players on the pitch.”

Everton’s 2-1 win away to Fulham earlier this month continued their impressive form on the road this season. But a loss against Bournemouth last time out extended their wait for a home victory to five games in all competitions.
“We have got to try to turn our away form into good home form,” Moyes admitted before the defeat to Bournemouth. “We have done a good job, we just need to make sure we can pick up another few wins at our stadium.
“We are always looking to see what it may well be. We have a great new stadium, the sooner we start getting used to it the better. Everybody enjoys it, we do, but maybe the opposition quite like it as well.”
Moyes will no-doubt have a similar message when he addresses the media from 1:30pm on Friday.
