Can Archer Revive England’s Bowling Attack at Lord’s?

Having been comprehensively outskilled by India at Edgbaston, England is likely to make changes to their XI. Perhaps it is time to unleash the terrifying pace of Jofra Archer?

Archer, who has 42 wickets in 13 Tests, has not played a Test match since the Test Series away to India in 2021.

With the Ashes coming up away in Australia, England must have an array of fast bowling options to help them pick up wickets on the hard pitches down under.

The Sussex speedster is someone who can do that, and with the India Series level at 1-1, it’s worth a gamble for the third Test at Lord’s.

Bowling 20-30 overs a day is never easy for fast bowlers, especially when you’ve been out of Test match action for four years.

If he indeed features at Lord’s, it’ll be fascinating to see what kind of Archer we will have?

A fit and firing one, or just someone who is just making their way back into Test cricket?

As for the tourists, you don’t expect many changes, except the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the Edgbaston Test, to manage his workload.

Now the question is, who does he replace in the XI?

Akash Deep, who was selected ahead of him for the second Test, was the best bowler in the match, with figures of 10-187.

Surely he deserves to play at Lord’s?

Mohammed Siraj’s experience and consistency in this format make him almost undroppable.

So perhaps it’ll be the tall speedster from Karnataka, who makes way for the leader of India’s attack.

England’s batters will certainly have their work cut out if that’s the case.

Do they have any game plan to counter him?
